Hey all. I know we technically started "school" in July this year, but it is really starting to feel like real school again around here. Of course, we have the tadpoles. That is kind of exciting. Especially since we have no idea what kind of frog or even toad they are. Depending on the type they could take anywhere from 6 weeks to 2 YEARS to become frogs. Or toads. We don't know. They are growing, though. Especially one that Kaleb is calling "Michael". We also are doing a history curriculum that is actually starting to get more exciting. We are talking about Indians right now. We were talking about the Plains Indians and how they had to dry buffalo meat, so we decided to talk daddy into making some beef jerky. I wish I had remembered to take a picture of Kaleb helping DJ make it, but I didn't.We have joined 2 local homeschool groups and are meeting lots of lovely people. Now that the school year has started for everybody else around here there are lots of activities and park days. We decided not to do any extra-curricular activities for the kids until after Christmas though since there is so much going on between now and then. That reminds me.... These are Kaleb and Alex's "daddy bags" or "deployment bags". Whichever you prefer to call them. We are slowly filling a camo bag for each of them with little goodies of various types. So far they each have a story book and stuffy from daddy, a picture frame that we will put a pic of them, DJ and their stuffy into right before he leaves, and some maze books. We would like to keep filling them, and if anyone else would like to add to their bags, please feel free. They will get their bags from DJ right before he leaves. It was just something we wanted to do for them to help them with his deployment and to make them feel special and all. I don't think they will get to pull out everything all at once. Probably just for those days when we are having a rough time or something, we can go pull something out for a little encouragement throughout the year.Okay, I will explain the "MUG SHOTS" in the Album. This year we got some of those Safe Kids kits. They compile all their information into a kit with a little ID card and everything so that, Lord forbid, if something should ever happen, it is all right there. Their fingerprints, blood type, pictures, height/weight, even a DNA sample. Pretty nifty! Anyways, I had to take good head-shots of them for the packets, and that's where the mugshots came from, hehe.Anyways, we are supposed to be cleaning and packing and such to head out of here early Monday morning and DJ is still sleeping and we haven't started anything yet. Time to go harrass a husband. Later. |
