I wanted to share a more recent picture of Kaleb's strawberry garden. It is coming along rather well.

We also lost another tadpole the other day. This one to much more natural causes. The cat got it. We walked in and his little guts were smeared all over my kitchen floor with a very nonchalant looking kitty. I could have kicked her. Poor Kaleb about burst into tears at the sight. Now we have one little lone tadpole who is being heavily guarded! I used my burst of annoyed energy to purge a room yesterday afternoon though. The office/school room is looking great. Everything is cleaned out and functioning again. So, Kaleb is back to doing his school work at the desk in the office now. I can't say that he is entirely thrilled about that, but we have been having a rough week anyway. I am not sure what all is causing the attitude, but it hasn't been good.
Yesterday, I asked the kids to pull the dry clothes out of the dryer for me into the basket. When I came walking back through the kitchen, I noticed that they had done what I asked, but my kids had disappeared. Then I heard the giggles.

I decided I have had enough of Kaleb's history book. The other day I took his history book and all its associated mess and threw it all onto the donate pile. It is bad enough when the kids don't really like the work, it is entirely another when I can barely convince myself to go pick it up and teach out of it. I DO NOT like that book. I will not use it for one more day. Thankfully, we already have a much more exciting curriculum sitting right here in the house waiting for us. I have been wanting to use it for a while but had decided to wait until next year when I planned to be done with the book I just tossed. Well, we are done with it now, so onward we go. =) This one deals a lot more with multiple grade level work, lots of read alouds, activities, and goes chronologically. There are lots of other features I love about it also.
Today was library day. We go to the 10am storytime at the local library on Thursdays. The kids love it. It scares me a little. That woman is WAY to peppy, but then again I guess she is in the perfect job. We picked up a few things. Some for our new history books, some for a science lesson and some just because. Last week we came home with an armload of stuff on tadpoles and robots. Kaleb was thrilled.
